No rapture today, but there will be a day – see you there?

It’s been a fun couple of days for millions who have taken this opportunity to mock the idea of a rapture and what God’s word has to say about the second coming of Christ.

As a Christian, I hesitate to snicker at anything that mocks the word of my Creator, Savior and Coming King, and I’m not sure whether these jokes are harmless or offensive. But my opinion doesn’t matter, so I’m not going to spend a lot of time thinking about it.

I do hesitate about whether to even write on this today because the topic is so … obvious. However, this is one time when I think that it’s okay to point out the obvious at the risk of being obvious.

We know from scripture that no one will know the hour or day when Jesus returns. So we know that today is not that day.

But what we also know is that even though today is not that day, there will be a day.

My sincere prayer is that everyone reading this blog will be ready for the party, an eternity in heaven. The alternative, according to scripture, is an eternity in hell.

If you have never really considered this reality, why not take an opportunity now to think about what it would look like for you spend eternity in heaven and what it would look like for you to spend eternity in hell? What would it hurt to just consider it?

I don’t think it would hurt anything to honestly ask yourself, ‘Do I know where I’m going?’ It’s a valid question.

Do you?

If you don’t know where you’re spending eternity, I’m praying you’ll shut the laptop and take an honest moment with the Lord and ask Jesus to be a part of your life.

Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
